The US and Canadian system starts at Size 0 (11.63 mm inside diameter) and increases by 0.8128 mm per full size. The British and Australian Wheatsheaf gauge uses alphabetical letters (A to Z+) in 1/64-inch (~0.397 mm) diameter steps—meaning each UK half-letter step is roughly a quarter US size.
